The final ACU OSET British Youth Trials Championship at Bracken Rocks in Derbyshire made for relaxed riding for Lewis Hurdsman. Having secured his D-Class Small Wheels crown, it was grand day out and another consistent podium finish.
The real action of the day, came in the battle for the remaining places - in what is becoming a bit of a final round OSET tradition! Young George Hemingway had to hold his nerve and clean the last section to draw level with Myles not knowing what the final result would be on countback. In the end, Myles just missed out on his first national win, after George secured most cleans.
Penny Hutchinson, said: "I was gutted for Myles he'd ridden so well and was pipped at the post. George is a phenomenal rider and it's no surprise that, like his brother last year, there was a nail-biting finale that came down to the last section of the last lap!"
For the third year running OSET has delivered a 1,2,3 Championship finish in the D-Class small wheels. Lewis Hurdsman, in his first full year of nationals, rode consistently at every round, never off the podium in his last year in the class. It's a great achievement for the young lad from Chirk, North Wales, where he rides with Llangollen DMC.

Completing the OSET 1,2,3 were George Hemingway, who took second overall and Myles Hutchinson who finished third two places ahead of the 2014 season.
Dominic Horne rode the D-Class medium wheels on the prototype OSET 24.0 and takes a clear, solid second place, having pushed for the win all season.
Ian added: "Every year we look at the young OSET riders and they just seem to get better and better. Lewis, George and Myles are truly skilled, no fear and all demonstrate incredible technique on the bike. Dominic stepped up to a bigger bike this year to take development of our prototype OSET 24.0 forward. He's had a remarkable season and it's been a pleasure to watch his progression. He's definitely biting at the heels of those in front of him!
"Not only that, but seeing former OSET champion, Harry Turner absolutely boss the C-Class medium wheels on a petrol bike, along with ex-OSET champs Harry Hemingway and Henry Stephenson really does put to bed the theory that kids won't be able to transition from electric to petrol! Great job Harry and a thoroughly enjoyable season watching such competitive trials riding."
Three riders to watch next year are Jasper Fox, Toby Shaw and Alex Horne all of whom will be looking to secure podium places! While waiting in the wings is a strong contingent of OSET Cup regulars who are looking to step up to National level.
